This movie is more of a curiosity for fans of "The Asphalt Jungle" than anything else, in that it's a remake of the story but here the main characters rob a gold mine instead of jewels. There's some nice location work, and the love story between Borgnine and Katy Jurado is well done. The climax is well orchestrated with some nice production value. However, it's nowhere near as good as the original, and it's lacking significantly in the suspense department. The supporting cast is less than memorable, particularly in comparison to their counterparts in Huston's classic. So: interesting, but a rental, not a keeper.
