SYNOPSIS:
The Bishop's Wife (1947, 109 min)
Heavenly bells are ringing, jubilant choirs are singing and Christmas joy is blanketing the world like freshly fallen snow. But the Yuletide spirit has yet to warm Bishop Henry Brougham's Victorian home. Struggling to raise funds for a new cathedral, the preoccupied young clergyman has neglected his loving wife Julia, and now only divine intervention can save their marriage! But the powerful and handsome angel sent from above has a mind of his own and teaching mortal Henry an immortal lesson inromance isn't all he's got planned! March of the Wooden Soldiers A.K.A. Babes in Toyland (1934, 74 min)
Based on the operetta by Victor Herbert, this delightful musical follows the pre-Christmas antics of two well-meaning bumblers, played by the inimitable comedy of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
Although Dee (Hardy) and Dum (Laurel) do everything wrong at their toy factory jobs, when the learn that Mother Peep and her daughter Bo are about to be evicted, they try to do right by helping the damsels. Hoping to borrow money from their boss to prevent the sweet little shepherdess from to marry the sinister landlord, Dee and Dum are instead fired! Not only that, but Barnaby wants to shut the factory down and ruin the holidays for all the children expecting toys! It's up to the big-hearted, hilarious duo to gain help from the rest of the fairy-tale citizenry to stop the wedding, save the factory and celebrate Christmas.

Superbly directed by the peerless Frank Capra, this remake of Lady For A Day is pure Hollywood magician unforgettable combination of comedy, whimsy and romance that was nominated for three Oscars Impoverished Broadway peddler Apple Annie (Bette Davis) has a problem. Her daughter, Louise (Ann-Margret), educated abroad since infancy, is coming for a visit and bringing her wealthy fiancé with her. The problem is that Louise has believed all her life that Annie's a wealthy dowager, and the poor old woman doesn't know what to do! Enter Dave the Dude (Glenn Ford) a big-hearted racketeer who enlists the aid of his colorful mob of hooligans in a wild and crazy scheme to pass Annie off as a high-society grande dame so Louise can marry her fairy-tale prince and everyone can live happily ever after!
