SYNOPSIS:
King and Country (1964, 87 min.)
WWI Army private Hamp faces a court-martial after deserting his post. Hamp’s lawyer, Captain Hargreaves, must argue against the charges before an Army tribunal in order to save him from a nasty stigma, or worse – execution. This compelling film earned BAFTA Film Award nominations for Best British Film, Best British Actor (Sir Dirk Bogarde), Best British Art Direction and Best British Cinematography.
Angels One Five (1952, 98 min.)
The Battle of Britain is played out through the valiant efforts of the Hurricane Squadron. Group Captain “Tiger” Small, Squadron Leader Peter Moon and Pilot Officer “Septic” Baird try to hold off air attacks from the Germans. A voice crackles in the pilot’s headphones: “Hello, Pimpernel – bandits ahead of you – Angels One Five.” The Hurricanes climb to 1,500 feet. The historic battle has begun. Angels One Five was nominated for two BAFTA Film Awards for Best British Film and Best Film from Any Source.
