SYNOPSIS:Based on Geoffrey Household's best-selling novel, this "grim, suspenseful" (The New York Times) and "dramatic thriller" (Pacific Coast Magazine) is a "vastly compelling" (New York Herald Tribune) ride that will hold you in its grip until its riveting final frame.
Deep in the Bavarian mountains, British big-game hunger Capt. Alan Thorndike (Walter Pidgeon) has set his sights on the biggest prize of all -- Adolph Hitler. But just as he is about to pull the trigger, he is captured by Major Quive-Smith (George Sanders) a Gestapo leader, who wants Thorndike to confess to being a hired British assassin. Knowing the political dangers a confession would bring, Thorndike refuses and is tortured to near death before he manages to escape. Soon the hunter is the prey as Thorndike, with the help of a beautiful street waif (Joan Bennett), uses his animal instincts to evade his captors while their very lives hang in the balance!
