     | Joe | | MISS PINKERTON proves to be a mystery with all the plot & character depth of a Nancy Drew mystery, thoroughly deserving of Mystery Science Theater-type commentary -- which my kids & myself did indeed provide. But that doesn't really matter; despite the fact that Joan Blondell seems sometimes to have just come from acting class, she's still cute as a button and equally fresh. Everyone else is either wooden or wasted, and the main reason to watch more than five minutes is to see if a major studio production could indeed be so comically bad. It is; so bad it's almost good. Two stars for all the big eyes and sudden screams. Bring extra butter for the popcorn. |
