SYNOPSIS:
Outside The Law (1920, 75 min.)
In an early collaboration with director Tod Browning (Dracula, Freaks), Lon Chaney delivers a dual performance of dramatic intensity, starring as Ah Wing, a kind-hearted student of Confucian philosophy, and Sylva, a murderous rake of the San Francisco underworld. Ah Wing and Sylva are physical representations of the opposing factions of light and dark that weigh on the conscience of Molly Madden, who must choose between lives of crime and domesticity.
Shadows (1922, 68 min.)
In one of the most challenging performances of his illustrious career, Lon Chaney stars as a Chinese laundryman caught in a web of small-town jealousy and extortion in Shadows. Cast by a storm upon the coastline of the small fishing town of Urkey, Yen Sin weathers the taunts of the closed-minded villagers and struggles for acceptance. But when he discovers a plot to blackmail the local minister (Harrison Ford), Yen Sin must step forward from society's shadows and bravely unmask the malefactor who threatens to rend the community.
