SYNOPSIS:
The Perils of Pauline
, a nine chapter silent episodic serial, is considered the most famous suspense serial in cinema history. Every two weeks Pauline evaded attempts on her life. She survives the plots of her dastardly guardian who wants her inherited fortune for himself. The film is presented here with color tints and an orchestra music score.

A complete copy of the original 20 chapter U.S. theatrical version is not known to exist
The version which survives today on 28mm is an edited down and rearranged 9 chapter version, which was released in Europe in 1916
Unlike most serials, chapters of
Pauline
were released every two weeks.
Originally planned to be 13 chapters, it was extended to 20 due to its popularity
The name of the villain was "Raymond Owen" in the original US version, but was changed to the German sounding "Koerner" for the 1916 European release.
