Wonderful Americana by Fox Studios! Ameche is fine, Andrea Leeds adequate, Jolson OK.

Supposedly this was the picture that, due to Jolson's attitude on the set, resulted in the end of his movie career.

Shot in old Technicolor, this DVD edition is not a good transfer. Technicolor requires very sophisticated transfer equipment and operator skill for good color and contrast rendition---this edition has rather murky contrast despite adjusting my set.

This is not the first Fox MOD DVD edition I've seen that is obviously an older transfer inferior to today's technology.
Someone is perhaps cutting corners and copying old TV transfers of these movies rather than remastering.

Fox's regular edition DVDs seem to have much sharper and greater depth of focus than their MODs.
