     | Jeff | | Well titled. If you want to be Zoned, this is the best--with one serious reservation. First the good: mastering is perfect, sharp with good deep blacks (a necessity in the Zone), and the series is presented in chronological order so you can watch it and Rowdy Roddy Serling mature week by week, the while accumulating the finest series of musical scores in TV. These are well served, many episodes give you the option of listening to the isolated score. You even get snippets of the rest of late 50's/early 60's TV--how long has it been since the phrase "And now a word from our alternate sponsor" been heard? The ridiculously young Steve McQueen even shows up in a promo for "Wanted--Dead or Alive." The serious problem? NO SUBTITLES!! Quelle ironic! Which means that the incomparable dialog disappears if you choose one of the many interesting commentaries for this last flowering of great TV writing. But other than that a complete joy and a must for anyone who wants to revisit this 5th dimension beyond that which is known to man.... |
