SYNOPSIS:Shirley Temple stars as the orphaned Wendy in her final film with director Allan Dwan. Adopted as
an infant by the husband and wife vaudeville team of Joe and Kit Ballantine (Jack Oakie and Charlotte Greenwood), she grows into childhood as a vital part of their act. As she approaches school
age, the couple feels that life on the road is not the best thing for Wendy and decide to settle down on a farm in Vermont. However, the local populace openly expresses their doubts about the morality of
show business people. When Wendy turns a school play into an impressive vaudeville show, the
children's parents are scandalized by its content and call a halt to the show in mid-performance. On
their way out of town, the Ballantines rescue a local child in a storm and the grateful town finally
learns to accept their colorful neighbors.
