WARNER ARCHIVE: Dr. Kildare - Season 2, Bill Elliott Mysteries

More Dr. Kildare this week as Warner has announced Dr. Kildare - Season 2 as part of their Archive line. Great co-stars abound in this 9-disc set with a very special color episode starring Robert Redford.

Also out is the 2-disc Bill Elliott Detective Mysteries set with Elliot's turn as a detective in his last five films (below).

Both will be available here at ClassicFlix on February 18th. These new DVDs add to the total of over 1,200 Warner Archive titles exclusively available for rent at ClassicFlix.com.

Americas favorite intern, Dr. James Kildare (Richard Chamberlain), returns in the second season of his smash hit NBC series alongside mentor Dr. Leonard Gillespie (Raymond Massey). Thanks to Chamberlains and Masseys able embodiment of the characters originally made famous by Lew Ayres and Lionel Barrymore, Dr. Kildare soared to smash hit heights.

Adding sizzle to the second season is a scorcher of a special episode, The Burning Sky, with a very special guest star. Airing as part of a special promotion, the episode is in full Living Color with Robert Redford playing an arrogant medical student who loses his nerve during a raging forest fire!

But thats not the only illustrious guest star making the rounds of Blair General Hospital in this 34-Episode, 9-Disc Collection. Other guests include Carroll OConnor, Peter Falk, Robert Culp, Mary Astor, Gloria Swanson, Bill Bixby, John Cassavetes, and Leonard Nimoy!

Superstar cowboy actor Wild Bill Elliot traded in his boots and spurs at Allied Artists for gumshoes and a badge in a series of crackling crime dramas playing a Los Angeles County Sheriffs department detective lieutenant. Dubbed Lt. Andy Flynn in the first film, subsequent installments saw Elliotts rugged and wise police detective redubbed Lt. Andy Doyle.

Regardless of the name, the characters dogged determination and canny mind lead him past the obvious suspects to nab the real killers before fade-out. Unhinged war veterans, not-so-innocent blind men, baby-racket blackmail, kidnapped cons and careless stranglers all appear in intrepid Lt. Andys case files. Tough-guy character actor Don Haggerty appears in the final three films as sidekick Sgt. Mike Duncan.

Footsteps in the Night (1957)
