Gene Autry Collection, Vol. 8 has been set by Timeless Media for release on November 18th.
Two of the four titles in the Autry set are making their DVD debut (Trail to San Antone & Saginaw Trail) while Riders in the Sky and Riders of the Whistling Pines were previously released by Image Entertainment and Alpha Video, respectively.
Riders in the Sky (1949, 69 min.)
One of the greatest cowboy songs since 'The Last Round-Up' and 'South of the Border' launches Gene Autry on his most stirring adventure!
Riders In the Sky finds investigator Gene Autry helping a gal clear the name of her father, who is accused of murdering a gambler. When the leader of the gamblers gets involved, it's up to Gene and his comic sidekick pal Pat Buttram to outwit and outfight the badland badmen.
Trail to San Antone (1947, 67 min.)
Returning from service after a long absence, Gene Autry meets and befriends a young jockey, Ted Malloy, whose career has been cut short by injuries suffered in an 'accident' caused by the trickery of an unscrupulous horse trainer, Cal Young. Gene and the gang must win a horse race to rid themselves of the crooked trainer.
Riders of the Whistling Pines (1949, 70 min.)
A deadly insect invasion threatens every tree in the forest and greedy loggers plan to harvest the protected land. To prevent the government from saving the trees, the profiteers murder a forest ranger and frame Gene Autry for the crime. Autry is cleared of the charges, but the lumber men devise a villainous plan to ruin him. The rangers spray the forest to destroy the infestation, but the next morning many animals are found dead of poisoning. The trees seem doomed until Autry unmasks the real culprits. Their plans foiled, the bloodthirsty killers attack Autry, provoking a furious final battle.
Saginaw Trail (1953, 56 min.)
In 1827, the fur empire of Jules Brissac in Michigan's Saginaw Valley wilderness is threatened by advancing settlers. Miller Webb, Brissac's henchman, disguised as an Indian, leads renegade Delaware Indians against the settlers.
Young settler Randy Lane is rescued from such a raid by Gene Autry, a captain in Hamilton's Rangers sent to investigate the murders of the settlers. Gene's assistant, Smiley Burnette, poses as a fur trapper and gets a job around Brissac's trading post. Gene and Smiley, aided by Randy and Flora Tourney, Brissac's niece, find evidence pointing to the guilt of Brissac and Webb, and round them up to make the region safe for settlers.
