FOX CINEMA ARCHIVES: Michael Shayne Comes Out of the Vault in November

Fox has announced the resurrection of Michael Shayne, private detective, as part of their latest releases in their Cinema Archives line.

The studio is releasing Just Off Broadway (1942), the sixth of seven movies featuring Lloyd Nolan's detective, Michael Shayne, which ran from 1940 to 1942.

After years of silence on the series, it was feared Fox had abandoned Shayne after kickstarting the character's resurgence with the release of Dressed to Kill (1941) in 2005 and a four film box set, The Michael Shayne, Private Detective Collection, Vol. 1 in 2007.

There's no word on any plans to release the final Shayne film, Time to Kill (1942).

Also new from the Archives this week is Roddy McDowall's WWII family drama, On the Sunny Side (1942).

Both will be available here at ClassicFlix on November 4th.

These DVDs add to the total of over 200 Cinema Archive titles exclusively available for rent at ClassicFlix.com.
