20th Century Fox has announced March 10th as the release date for the 50th Anniversary of The Sound of Music on a remastered Blu-Ray and DVD.

After celebrating the 40th and 45th editions with splashy sets, the 50th continues that trend with both a 2-disc edition on Blu, a single disc DVD version, and a 5-disc Ultimate Collector's Edition containing the film on both formats as well as an additional soundtrack disc. The Ultimate Collector's Edition will only be available to purchase from ClassicFlix.

The only new bonus content for these new versions is a 60-minute documentary Andrews did where she returned to Salzburg, Austria where the movie was filmed.
