Paramount will release Rawhide - The Complete Series onto DVD May 19th. The 59-disc set contains all 217 episodes of the Western series, starring Clint Eastwood in his breakout role, which ran from 1959 - 1965. Originally released on DVD by Legend Films in 2012, that version contained both a black and white as well as a colorized version of the film. VCI doesn't appear to be putting out a colorized format, but will include a featurette on the duo, as well as a special trailer as bonus material (below).

The film originally premiered on DVD through MGM a decade ago and has been out of print since. The comedic duo would make 38 films in their sixteen years together. Bonus features to the upgraded DVD or Blu-Ray aren't anticipated.
Read moreCriterion has scheduled May 19th as the street date for the Blu-Ray debuts of Leo McCarey's Make Way for Tomorrow (1937) and Charlie Chaplin's Limelight (1952). McCarey's film was originally released on DVD by Criterion in 2010, while Chaplin's melancholy drama came to DVD in a 2-disc set via Warner in 2005. Both movies will receive simultaneous DVD upgrades. Both come with bonus features typical of Criterion releases (below).

Each disc contains three Stooges feature films, with volume 1 containing three pre-1950s films and the latter three from the 1960s.
