  • KINO: The Front Page Debuts on DVD and Blu-Ray in August

    Kino has announced an August 11th street date for the 1931 newspaper comedy, The Front Page, on DVD and Blu-Ray. This is the first time the Adolphe Menjou classic will be released on home video and is especially notable as the forerunner to the screwball comedy His Girl Friday (1940) starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. Bonus features will include audio commentary and radio adaptations (below).

    Criterion has announced an August 4th street date for both versions of Night and the City on DVD and Blu-Ray. The studio continues the trend of upgrading their first spate of releases to 2-disc DVDs as well as transfering them to Blu.     Flicker Alley has announced a release date of October 27th for Sherlock Holmes starring William Gillette. This marks the first time the rare 1916 Holmes feature, starring Gillette, has been put out on any format. Gillette became the foremost Holmes performer, playing the character nearly 1300 times.
